Early to mid 19th Century. Came out of a barn in New Hampshire. Great form simply made out of pine wood with original dry bittersweet paint that shows the best aged surface. Square nail construction with some old later nails added over the years for stability and a mend. Top hole is the original hanging hole that shows uneven wear and the smaller hole below was added a long time ago for some reason unknown to me. Notice the early rose head nail that was placed in the upper right hand corner to use as a hook. Painted on the backside also. Lots of wear from years of usage give this piece a lot of character and warmth. Measures 28" tall by 7 1/2" wide by 5 1/2" deep.
